The Quilt

In 1992 the three kids (Sue, Phil and Lisa) decided to have a 50th anniversary party of our parents the following year. After much discussion, and probably up to plan #327B or so, most of us decided to meet at Calistoga in Napa Valley for Christmas, a week before their 50th. Phil with his girlfriend Margie and her kids, Jason, Lisa and Eli; Lisa with her husband Bill and their kids Rebecca and Joshua (and a bun in the oven); dear friends from Antioch College Martin and Anne Huff; dear friends from Chicago Andy and Nadine Ungar; and of course Mom and Dad. Margie, like Phil, loved to create things, so she decided to make a quilt commemorating her future in-laws. This is the result of a year of research by many family members and work by Margie and Phil, and demonstrates every sewing technique known or invented by either of us.

The quilt is California king size, and resided on their bed for many years. With their passing, several of the grandchildren have decided to share it, passing it around on a schedule known only to them.
