Dear Friends,

It was a wonderful party. Thank you all so much for coming to it and sharing in our celebration as we begin our new “life of leisure” (“life of frenetic travel” might be a better term).

We set flight for Alaska tomorrow for 3 weeks of pure vacation. July it’s Des Moines with our opera study group. August has trips to New York where Sue lives and Glacier Park for vacationing with Lisa, Bill, and Rebecca. September should find us circumnavigating a couple of the Great Lakes. Thea has a meeting in Boston in October, and in November Phil hopes to walk the New York Marathon. We plan to close out the year in Sunnyvale CA, helping Lisa have her new baby.

In between we’ll think of you every time we program or watch the new VCR you so generously gave us.

To express our thanks to each and every one of you, we follow in the footsteps of Gordon Beavers and invite you to find yourself in the enclosed ditty.

Phil and Thea

“THEY SHOULD ALL BE HUGGED AND KISSED”
Sung by Thea and Philip Hodge
Following the best retirement party ever
(With apologies to the Mikado, Ko-Ko, Bill G., and Artie S.)

As very soon ’twill happen our employment days will end
We’ve got a little list, We’ve got a little list,
Of some very special people every one of whom’s a friend,
And who surely should be kiss’d. They should be hugged and kiss’d.

Those recently retired folks known as Bob and Katie Plunkett;
As an em cee Bob’s terrific though you never would have thunk it.
There’s our chair who came with Marge; that’s P.R. Sethna (known as Pat)
He doesn’t like Phil’s taste in shirts, but we’ll forgive him that.

And Sara (no “H”) Graffunder, who’s face was sorely missed;
We’ve put her on the list. She should be hugged and kiss’d.
(Chorus)
They’ve got ’em on the list. They’ve got ’em on the list
They should all of ’em be kiss’d. They should all be hugged and kiss’d.

Anne and Martin Huff are there from far off Sacramento;
He’s a philatelist; they must be on the list.
And Brachman, Jim, from Antioch days a very fine memento;
We’ve got him on the list. He should be hugged and kiss’d.

The I.T. Deans are there in force (there really are none better)
There’s boss-man Jim and also Russ, and Sally wrote a letter,
From our very own department there are Jan and Gordon Beavers;
His singing’s something special and his wit is sharp as cleavers.

And Ted who’ll take Phil’s place as the department’s D.G. iSt;
We’ve put you on the list. You should be hugged and kiss’d.
(Chorus)
They’ve got ’em on the list. They’ve got ’em on the list
They should all of ’em be kiss’d.
They should all be hugged and kiss’d.
They should all of ’em be kiss’d. They should all be hugged and kiss’d.

From the C.E. gang there’s Ted and Barb and also Andrew D.
They are the practice list. We’ve got ’em on the list.
And Charles and wife and Kathy French, they are the best you see

Then from Woodhull Road Edina are the Morans, Jane and Jack,
When Phil has crossed the finish line Jack’s there and halfway back.
And that runner and that walker known as John and Jennie Burton;
Phil is somewhere in between the two; that much is fairly certain.

With Diane G. and Carlson’s two, of runners they’re the gist –
We’ve put you on the list. You should be hugged and kiss’d.
(Chorus)
They’ve got ’em on the list. They’ve got ’em on the list
They should all of ’em be kiss’d. They should all be hugged and kiss’d.
